About Luna Web Design

My name is Michael Skipper and I am a freelance web designer and owner of Luna Web Design. I am currently employed by Tidewater Community College as their faculty web page assistant and I also provide instructional technology support to the faculty members that teach online classes. My job as the faculty web page assistant entails me to develop, design, and update the faculty member’s web sites. I am also responsible for the content and design of the distance learning section of TCC’s web site.

I first started making web sites when I decided to sell products online. Trying to find a company that could help me achieve this goal, I ran into several people that wanted to charge me an outrageous price for a web site that didn't have the functionality that I needed. I decided to build my own web site from scratch. Since then my interest in web design has grown along with my skills. I enjoy the prospect of helping businesses get their web site online. I consider building web sites as more of a hobby than a profession. Whether it is a simple web site or one that requires the use of databases or special programming I enjoy the challenges each one demands. I also like meeting new clients and learning about the different businesses in the Hampton Roads area. With all of my clients, I provide a one on one working relationship with them. For any task that are out of my skill range, I have a large pool of people from which I can either get assistance from or contract work out to. I am often available throughout the day and on weekends to assist with support or questions that arise. I've designed web sites for clients in Elizabeth City, N.C. to Nags Head, North Carolina. I also have clients in the Hampton Roads area including Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach and as far away as Northern Virginia.

I am currently working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems from ODU. I was previously employed by Ford Motor Company’s Norfolk Assembly Plant until the plant closed in 2007. Since then I have taken on my goal of learning as much as possible in the field of web design. I have since earned my CIW Associate Certification, CIW Associate Design Specialist Certification  and CIW Professional Certification.
